Why Do You Wear Clothes?

Hola, Everyone! My last post was 10 months ago! I’m surprised whenever I check my Stats and see that people are still reading my past posts. Woah! Thank you so much! I hope this little passion project of mine brings value to those who visit.

Anyways, I was really excited that there are so many stores and fashion bloggers online promoting modest fashion that I just had to share! To be honest, I was not that interested in dressing modestly until the last several years. I think a lot of it had to do with the media I consumed and, of course, dressing modestly was not really a topic for conversation amongst my friends when I was younger. Lately, as I browse fashion bloggers and online stores, I felt underwhelmed about what I was seeing. I wanted to see outfits that required more thought and more awareness of where that person’s heart is.

Now, I love how it’s so easy to find stylish pieces and a global community of women who advocate for modest clothing. It really makes you more intentional not only about what you wear, but why you wear it.

Makeup Products I’m Loving Right Now!

Last week my sister surprised me with some back-to-school gifts! Among them were these 5 makeup products I’m loving right now. I just wanted to share these products just in case anyone was looking for a new foundation, concealer, mascara, eyebrow pencil or highlighter. To be honest, I’ve been LOVING these products, hence the name of the blog post!

  1. IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact (Pictured Above) – Woah! This first-ever solid serum foundation works wonders for my skin! Developed with plastic surgeons, this foundation provides full coverage and SPF 50+ sunscreen. For the past few years I’ve been using liquid foundations. The last time I used foundation in a compact was back in high school! I’m really happy my sister gave me this foundation because I’ve been thinking of getting a new foundation that provided better coverage. This one does the job and much more! I would definitely repurchase this product and highly recommend it to others!

2. Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer – This product was another win! My sister knows me really well! I’ve been needing a better concealer for my dark circles under my eyes. This shade (light sand) is a lot lighter than I’m used to, but it’s better to help me look more awake compared with the darker, beige colors I usually use. I love putting this on because I instantly look more radiant and less tired. Just like the foundation, I would repurchase this product and highly recommend it to others!

3. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – My sister is on a roll! To be honest, I feel like this changed my mascara game. I’ve never experienced a mascara like this before. Just like the package says, this mascara is super-curling and lifting. I love how much control I have in putting on the mascara to my upper and lower eyelashes by having a short applicator wand. It was way easier to obtain precision in the curl compared with the other mascaras I’ve tried. Since I love using this mascara, I would definitely repurchase this product and again, highly recommend it to others!

4. Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil – I love this eyebrow pencil because it’s not greasy and has a smaller ultra-defining tip that imitates hair-like strokes. Also, I liked how unique the design of the pencil is, reminding me of a dart. With this pencil, my eyebrows look clean, natural and well-groomed. As you can guess, this is another product I would repurchase and recommend to others!

5. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter (Champagne Pop) – Last, but not least is this beautiful, shimmering powder hilighter! It’s a soft, white gold with pink, peachy undertones. After trying several other brands and types, including liquid highlighters, this is hands down the best highlighter for me to achieve a radiant, inner and outer glow. I love putting this on because it automatically brightens my face without looking glittery. I would definitely repurchase this product and recommend it to others looking for the best highlighter for themselves!
Overall, these 5 products hit the bullseye in what I’ve been wanting and needing lately. Thank you to my awesome sister for buying these for me! I hope you guys try these products out and love using them as much as I do! If you have these products already or recommend other makeup products to try, please leave a comment. Thank you so much for reading!

Have an awesome week!

Perfume Reviews (Yay or Nay?!)

Hello Everyone! I hope you’re having a great week so far.

Today I’m going to review some perfumes, including some samples I happen to have. Starting from the back, left to right, I’ll go one-by-one describing my impressions, some of the notes you can identify in them, and whether I would repurchase a bottle.

  1. Burberry Brit Eau de Toilette

This is a lighter version of the fragrance Burberry Brit. At first I wasn’t a big fan of the packaging because I thought the bottle’s rectangular shape looked plain, but slowly the iconic stripes grew on me. Fragrance notes include the following: pear, lime, almond, peony, vanilla, mahogany and tonka bean. The style is impulsive, sexy, and unique. To be honest, I didn’t like the fragrance compared with the other perfumes I have, but if you’re curious, you should give it a go nonetheless!

  2. Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Eau de Toilette

In comparison, I was instantly attracted to Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Dream because of its creative, elegant packaging of daisies all around the bottle! I was so excited to smell this perfume because I’m a big fan of fruity and floral scents and it didn’t disappoint. Fragrance notes include top notes blackberry, grapefruit, pear. Heart notes include jasmine, lychee, and blue wisteria, and base notes include white woods, musks, and coconut water. The style is ethereal, free-spirited, and luminous.  This is definitely a light scent I would go back to.

  3. Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Toilette

Similarly to the Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream, I liked this feminine packaging. I think it’s chic yet classic looking with the sleek sides of the hexagonal bottle and detail of the black bow. However, I didn’t like the floral scent as much. Fragrance notes include the following: red berries, pear, white gardenia, frangipani flower, patchouli, and brown sugar. The style is charming, romantic, and optimistic. Since I didn’t love this scent, I would not use this as often as the others.

 4. Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette

As you can tell by the picture, I’ve used this perfume the most because I love it! I love the clean, smooth and sophisticated face of the bottle. One spray of this fruity, floral fragrance is instant happiness! This is my go-to everyday scent and I always get compliments from friends and family whenever I wear it. Fragrance notes include grapefruit, jasmine, and white musk. The style is delicate, radiant, and at once innocent and seductive. Personally, the scent reminds me of delicious rambutans. Ah! I just love it and would definitely repurchase it!

 5. Versace Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette

First off, I was drawn to the name and packaging of the Versace Bright Crystal. I liked how the bottle’s cap really looked like a gleaming, bright crystal. When I first smelled it, I thought I liked it. It’s another floral fragrance just like most of the others. Yet, the more I used it, the more I realized the scent was too strong for me and now it makes me nauseous. Fragrance notes include the following: yuzu, pomegranate, peony, magnolia, lotus flower, musk, and amber. The style is sheer, sensual, and luminous.  Clearly, this is not a scent I would repurchase.

6. Philosophy Amazing Grace Eau de Toilette

Since this was just a sample and not the actual bottle, I could only go by a picture of the packaging of the bottle that was included inside. Personally, I like how simple, straightforward and clean the bottle’s design is. Moreover, I liked how clean, feminine and floral the scent is! Fragrant notes include bergamot, muguet blossoms, and musk. As mentioned earlier, the style is feminine, floral, and clean. This is definitely a fragrance I would want a full size bottle of!

7. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of Juicy Couture at all. From the picture of the bottle, I can tell right away that the design of the bottle didn’t help either. Elements on the bottle that I thought was just too much include the bling, crown, and big pink bow. However, the scent itself was not bad! I really liked the notes of vanilla! Other fragrance notes include wild berries, honeysuckle, sandalwood and jasmine. The style is playful, glamorous, and charming. I wouldn’t mind receiving this perfume as a gift, but personally I wouldn’t buy it.

8. Sarah Jessica Parker Stash Eau de Parfum

Last but not least, I tried on SJP’s Stash. Based on the picture of the bottle, I really wasn’t impressed by the unattractive design. I think it could do so much better, especially since the scent was so daring and sophisticated. I really liked the dark, woody and musky notes. This is a scent I would not usually wear, but I would have to get used to. Top notes include grapefruit, black pepper, and sage. Heart notes include cedarwood atlas, patchouli, ginger lily, and pistachio. Base notes include olibanum, massoia wood, vetiver, and musk. The style is magnetic, mysterious, and provocative. Personally, the sample bottle is enough for me and I wouldn’t buy a full-size bottle of it.

If you made it this far into the post, thank you so much for reading! I hope I was able to help you learn more about a specific fragrance. If you have any of the fragrances I mentioned, leave a comment and tell me your own thoughts about them or feel free to recommend me another one!

Happy Smelling and Reviewing!

90s Throwback Songs On My Mind Lately

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I’ll always be a 90s kid. I’ve been listening to a lot of 90s music lately, from working out to getting ready to go out, and these were a few that I really enjoyed listening to again. I haven’t heard of these songs in years so it was so much fun singing and dancing along to them!

Better Off Alone – Alice DJ

Ghetto Supastar – Pras Feat. Ol’ Dirty Bastard & Maya

Doo-Wop (That Thing) – Lauryn Hill

What a Girl Wants – Christina Aguilera

Tearing Up My Heart – *NSYNC

Wannabe – Spice Girls

These are all classic 90s songs that instantly brighten up my day. I hope ya’ll have fun with them!

Happy Listening!

Makeup Empties + Product Reviews!

Hello Everyone! Above are some makeup products I’ve used up in the past year or so. I’ve always wanted to do a makeup empties and product reviews blog post. This is my first time doing it so I’m pretty excited to start! Let’s dive into it!

First off, I loved using Clinique’s moisture surge cream. I’ve been using this product for years and it feels so refreshing and nourishing to put it on my skin right before I go to sleep or whenever I feel my skin is dry. I highly recommend this product if you haven’t tried it, especially if you have dry skin. I would definitely repurchase this product.

Secondly, is the Maybelline Baby Lips moisturizing lip balm in Pink Punch. I really liked this product because it glided on my lips smoothly, loved the tint of pink and it moisturized my lips very well. I would repurchase this product or be happy if someone gave it to me as a present.

Third, is the Mac Cremesheen Glass lip gloss in Just Superb. This was actually my first lipgloss from Mac years ago. I’ve had it for years for sentimental’s sake and just had to add it to my first empties blog post! This was my go-to lip gloss for sometime. I would definitely repurchase a similar Mac cremesheen glass lip gloss since I think this one is no longer available .

Next, the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. I like how sleek and lightweight the product is. It was perfect to carry around in my purse to touch up on my mascara when I’m out and about. The applicator was straight-forward and medium in length. I didn’t have any problems with this mascara, but I wouldn’t be so fast in repurchasing it either. I wouldn’t repurchase this item just because I still have other mascaras that are so similar.

Onwards to foundation! This Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ was a good foundation for special occasions. Sometimes I would mix this foundation with my everyday foundation for a more accurate skin tone color and smoother texture. Even though I liked this product, I wasn’t in love with it. I would not repurchase this item right away because I want to explore using other foundation products.

Next is the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Soft Brown. I really liked using this brow gel to refine my brows. I could see a real difference in my brows when I used it. I would repurchase this product.

Whoops! The label wore off in this product. This was the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Hilighting concealer. As you can tell, I used this product a lot which means I really liked it. The brush was soft and easy to apply to make my face glow. However, since I have an oily face, I’ve found using a powder highlighter is better for me than a liquid highlighter. Knowing this now, I would personally not repurchase this product, but would recommend it for people with dry skin.

This little guy was the Rimmel London Soft Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Pure White. I just used it around the inner edges of my eyes to look more awake and bright-eyed. This was pretty straightforward to use and I didn’t have any problems with it. I would repurchase this item.

If you noticed above, this product, the Seacret Mineral Rich Refining Toner was not in the group photo above because this was a last minute add on to my empties post. I’ve been using this Seacret product for the last 3 years and really like it. This is probably my second or third bottle I’ve gone through. There’s no irritation, no smell, and my skin feels clean after using it. I would definitely repurchase this item.

Thank you for making it this far! I had so much fun writing this blog post! I can’t wait to write another one in the future when I have more empties and product reviews to share. I’m far from being an expert in makeup, but recently my interest in makeup was reignited when I was looking for the right powder hilighter for me. Applying hilighter could be bloody tricky. I don’t want to look like a disco ball from space!

Anyways, Happy Makeup and Skincare Reviewing!
